
LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS!



Night photography is the best way to capture the magical world that blooms every day when the sun goes down. Taking photos at night time may look daunting. Shooting in the dark is often even scary for a lot of people, but trust me, once you discover and try it, you’ll find a whole new world.
Join me in this astrophotography workshop under one of the best starry skies in Sydney. Barrenjoey lighthouse area offers endless compositions and beautiful dark skies within a short drive from the CBD.

We will meet at Barrenjoey Lighthouse parking. Please be aware that the date or workshop could be changed depending on the weather in order to have the best conditions to run the workshop.
What are you going to learn?
This 6-hour workshop is divided into two days; 3 hours on-site and 3 hours in a live post-production session. The first 3 hours on site I will be teaching you the basics of night time photography:

Planification and use of Apps to help you

Basic settings for Astrophotography

Importance of composition

How to focus in the dark

Using panoramas to capture the Milky Way Arch
The live post-processing session will be the day after or on a preferable date via Skype or Zoom and it will include:

Basic Post-Processing using Lightroom from a single shot

Panorama shot of the MW from start to finish with advanced editing with PS; including how to stitch the photos and how to use luminosity masks to get the most from your photos. The session will be recorded and sent to you, so you can refer back to it as many times you want!
What do you need to bring?

Tripod

Camera (DSLR, full-frame recommended), wide-angle lenses, memory cards and plenty of batteries

A headtorch or spotlight

Comfortable shoes, warm clothes and mosquito repellent (just in case) •

Minimum fitness level required
How to get there?
The meeting point is in Barrenjoey’s Lighthouse parking (Parking fees apply until 7 PM).
Price and tour size
In order to provide you with an exclusive experience, this workshop caters for a group size of no more than 4 people. Registration is guaranteed only when the deposit fee is paid. The total price is $249 per person with a deposit fee of $25. The deposit fee is non-refundable unless 48h notice is given. The final payment is to be made within 24h before the meeting time.

Jose Luis Cantabrana Photography aims to provide you with a safe and educational experience during the workshops. Workshops fee are non-refundable if you do not show up or fail to cancel within the specified time frame. If the workshop has to be cancelled by us then all fees or payments will be refunded. Please note we accept no responsibility for any form of loss or damage to equipment or property as photography in outdoors, especially at night time, poses some risks and dangers. All clients must assess their own suitability in terms of fitness and must notify us of any medical conditions that could negatively affect their experience. We assume no liability regarding the provision of medical care. The payment of the workshop fee represents your acceptance of these terms.
