Maunga Odyssey: Embracing the Untamed Majesty of New Zealand’s Peaks

The name Maunga Odyssey captures the spirit of my latest gallery, reflecting both the adventure and the awe-inspiring landscapes of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Maunga, meaning "mountain" in Māori, combined with "Odyssey," conveys the epic journey and profound connection I felt to these wild, untamed heights.

In Easter 2024, my friend Luke Hassaart and I embarked on an unforgettable expedition to the South Island, driven by a passion to explore and photograph its rugged beauty. We tackled strenuous hikes to immerse ourselves in the raw splendour of the region—from the icy blue of glacier-fed rivers to the dense embrace of ancient forests, and from the towering mountain ridges to sweeping vistas that stretch endlessly.

With Maunga Odyssey, I’m thrilled to share a visual journey that goes beyond simple observation. Each photograph is a portal into the exhilarating landscapes of New Zealand, inviting you to experience the same sense of adventure and wonder that I felt.
